Debut Single NICE TO KNOW & Album TRUE STORIES to be released 01/10
Brophy busked & revelled his way around the world for several years hitting countries such as Australia, NZ and the USA honing the craft of a songsmith, a lifestyle that became a Law. His song writing reflects upon his world travels & youth growing up in the rural village of Moulton, Northamptonshire. Now based in Copenhagen with his Celtic Folk Rock outfit “Brophy’s Law” Eng/Sco/Dk. The band are currently having a ball on the summer festival circuit and preparing for their forthcoming release & autumn tour of Northern Europe.
The Debut single Nice To Know (that something’s stay the same) reflects the homecoming to Northampton after many years of travelling abroad and finding out that nothing has changed. The timing of the release has nothing to do with Brexit, but whatever happens in the midst of this chaos, Brophy quotes in the bridge of the song “something’s money just can not change, my country, my heritage will remain!”
Neil Brophy explains about the new album; ‘’True Stories is a bag full of self-penned songs that paint pictures of world travel, revelry, small-town England, record collecting, refugees, propaganda, vikings, lucky people, fishing & homecoming.’’ With Neil’s band of merry men, seasoned travellers too, they draw from influences such as Bragg’s/Dylan’s singer songwriter styles, McGowen’s Celtic rock, a slice of Wellerness with a haunt of NMA.
Brophy’s Law are currently following up on their recent UK tours sharing stages with Mad Dog Mcrea, Black Beards Tea Party , Felix Hagen, Morrisey & Marshall & SIR REG.
Live - the band always capture the audience with their driven Celtic rock sound of catchy melodic folk anthems, crossing the fields of traditional to contemporary folk with an edge & social commentary. The band of multi instrumentalists always deliver a memorable show for all, fronted with the charmful banter of Neil Brophy. Recent UK Festivals include Beautiful Days, Big Session & Middlewhich.

Neil Brophy is one of the unsung heroes of music. With his thoughtful lyrics he should be recognized as one of our foremost singer songwriters. His new album ‘True Stories’ is his best work yet. It contains his cult classic ‘Record Collector’ a must listen for vinyl fans. Top Class! Graham Jones – Author of the books ‘Last Shop Standing’ and ‘The Vinyl Revival and the Shops That Made it Happen’
The “Record Collector “ that features on the album was originally a solo vinyl release by Neil Brophy and was championed by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music. The band version of this will be released on Record Store Day 2020.
